Organic MarketsAre you fortunate in having Organic Markets near you? If so you are very lucky because not only do you get organically grown fruit and veg that were probably growing yesterday, but you get tastier and more nutritionally sound produce.

Organic markets are becoming more and more popular. Organically grown fruit and veg are usually a bit more expensive than the gas-ripened fruit and veg at the supermarket, but the extra expense is more than compensated by the wonderful produce you and your family can enjoy and need for good health.

Think of the benefits of eating organically produced tomatoes that have ripened on the vine; the flavor is superb compared to shop bought produce. This is also true for carrots, sweetcorn, peas, beans, zucchini, beetroot, stone fruit, apples, pears and all the other items sold at organic markets.

Think of those hard skinned, semi-ripe tomatoes that are the norm in supermarkets that never ripen well. They are a waste of money because they are deplete in the natural vitamins, minerals and enzymes that develop when the fruit or veg are grown organically and allowed to mature naturally.

Shopping at organic markets can change all that. Organic markets are organized by farmers and growers in your area so the fruit and veg you purchase are grown near where you live. You help to support those farmers and growers when you buy organic and they are then able to keep producing organic veg and fruit for your ongoing enjoyment and health.

Many organic markets are open at the weekend so families often make a visit as part of a day out. This can be a good way for your family to enjoy time together, with your children having a say in what they enjoy eating and a way of teaching them the benefits of healthy eating.

With obesity a major health concern, encouraging your children to eat the best healthy food you can access, can only be of benefit. Give them the chance to discover what good nutrition is all about. By buying them healthy, fresh and organically grown produce from organic markets, you won’t be sorry and neither will they.
