Organic Vegetable Garden Planting
Posted by: admin / Category: Organic Vegetable Garden Planting
If you’ve been thinking about organic vegetable garden planting for a while, but don’t know where to begin, here are a few tips on growing vegetables to help you get started on the right path:
Organic vegetable garden planting is the most rewarding form of gardening, because your organic vegetable garden will produce an abundance of fresh, uncontaminated food for you and your family to eat.
Vegetable gardens are hardier than flower gardens and survive and thrive when many types of flower gardens struggle.
Planting your own organic vegetable garden is as easy as falling off a log, and when you are harvesting an abundant yield of delicious, fresh and nutritious fruit and veg, you will ultimately eliminate your fresh food bill.
If you have children, make sure you let them help, as they may want to do their
own organic vegetable garden planting. If so, radishes and peas are the best bet, because they are hardy, as well as fast growing, so your kids will be delighted with their efforts quickly.
Plan the best location for your vegetable garden before deciding what you want to grow. Avoid planting near trees, as tree roots will soak up the moisture and nutrients, starving your precious vegetables of the micro-organisms they need to thrive.
Also, it’s important to consider the amount of sunlight or shade you have in the area that’s going to be your vegetable garden. Full sun is best; your vegetables will need about 6 hours of sunshine a day and a regular water supply.
When preparing your vegetable garden bed, or electing to do pots gardening using containers, remember that the soil is the basis of all growing plants. This is the most important part of organic vegetable garden planting.
Remove any weeds, stones or rubbish from your plot and dig over the soil to about the depth of your spade, about 30 cm should be sufficient, and then make sure there is sufficient drainage so your plants won’t become waterlogged.
Preparing the soil correctly the first time will ensure you receive an abundant yield. Your local nursery is a good source of information for finding out what you may need to add to your soil to give it the greatest growing potential.
Or you can add some well-rotted compost or animal manure (like “cow tea”) and dig it in or lightly pour it in, then rake over. If your focus is on organic, then organic veg and cow tea work particularly well together.
Another alternative to digging an organic veg garden is to do raised gardening, where soil is added above ground level. This method of organic vegetable garden planting has proven to be very popular with retirees.
Plant how you think it will best work for you given the space you will be using, but make sure that all of your plants are easily accessible from all sides, without having to step on the prepared gardening soil to reach them.
After a week or two it is then time for your first organic vegetable garden planting.
A trip to the local plant nursery is a must for all the family, as is deciding on what to plant. Just wandering around the nursery seeing the incredible variety available is loads of fun for the whole family.
For your first organic vegetable garden planting, choose a few of the fast growing organic vegetables so that you’re rewarded quickly for your effort.
Buying seedlings speeds up the process of growing your own vegetables, but of course there is nothing to stop you from growing from seed. In fact some plants are better grown this way, like radish, peas and beans.
Choose a few good varieties of your favorite vegetables, and after making your selection, head home and start planting, taking note of the instructions that come with each plant.
Once they are all bedded down, water them in well to get them started. Then every day, go and see how your garden is growing, making sure your plants have enough water and remove any weeds that may appear.
Once your first lot of seedlings become established and are on their way to yielding their first crop, now would be the time to add “cow tea” (refer to this article organic veg and cow tea to learn how to make it). When growing an organic veg garden, cow tea helps with producing the tastiest and most nutritious fresh vegetables.
Start the organic vegetable garden planting process again in another prepared patch nearby, or reserved from the start, for adding different types of vegetables or fruit, to broaden the variety of home grown veg and fruit you and your family can enjoy.
Your first organic vegetable garden planting should be an enjoyable experience and it will be, if your first planting consists of fast growing vegetables your family like to eat. The second organic vegetable garden planting will build on the first, adding diversity to the vegetables already established.
In a matter of weeks you will have a steady supply of beautiful, tasty vegetables
to include in your meals and recipes. Planting vegetables and fruit is an easy and fun thing to do for all the family – so get growing!
If you invest a small amount of time to take care of your garden, you will be abundantly rewarded for your efforts with a good hearty yield of fresh, ripe, delicious and nutritious veg and fruit. You will also eliminate your fresh food bill.

Hi. this is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time.

This is a good step to save paper. And will save the rain forests in Indonesia. Moreover, this will reduce the burden on the back of elementary school students. Of course this will make the traditional printing companies and governments in the third world into a panic because of their unpreparedness of information technology. . .

From the desert state of Rajasthan, this one’s a delight. The Rajasthani people were often deprived of fresh vegetables and fruits in their hostile arid environment. Most also happened to be die-hard vegetarians. They used non-perishable dried legumes, and root vegetables such as potatoes, onions and garlic capable of prolonged storage

[...] 5. Go to ground: Probably the biggest change anyone can make to reduce their grocery bill and drastically improve their health and the taste of their food is – grow your own. Obviously not all of us have sprawling acres to plant organic orchards: don’t worry, that’s not remotely necessary. Setting up small veggie patches is a lot simpler (and cheaper) than you might think, and even if you’re renting you can make the most of a few well chosen pots. More about this will be added here later, but in the mean time if you’re looking to set up your own backyard organic veggie garden, check the links section or visit here. [...]

A lovely description of why everyone should have a vegetable garden. Organic is just the best way too. Nurturing the soil natures way. I love to put my own compost on the ground. I also have chickens in my home plot. They provide great food for the family and the garden. Just two hens in a small ark that travels the garden eating bugs and stuff provide 10 to 14 eggs a week. Great for the compost heap! Another great way to be organic is to mix flowers into your patch so that those aphid eating predators are attracted to your garden.
Best wishes
Peter
